The purpose is to show that higher education’s diversity and equity can be achieved with the right recommendations. Some of the recommendations given included a commitment of the higher institution in promoting diversity and equality. Additionally, ensuring visible leadership oriented toward diversity. According to the article, recommendations given can help significantly reduce the diversity gap.

The source is credible since it is a report on finding various ways of improving diversity. A well-recognized group also publishes the report with much influence in the higher education leadership foundation. The author Bebbington is an expert in gender and science, qualitative interview research methodology, and thus capable of conducting and composing a credible report. The author also has many other published reports and is thus an expert in this field and working as director of knowledge perspectives LTD. The report was also published with the help of another group member, and thus it was peer-reviewed before the final conclusion
