Differences between Delegation and Assignment of personnel

Assignment means an act in which there is transfer of accountability and responsibilities. Delegation on the other hand is an act of transferring to another person the responsibilities and authorities in the performance of a specific task. The distinct difference between the two is that in delegation the person accepts the full accountability and responsibility for the task given whereas in is not the case in assignment. It therefore implies the consequences of the two processes are hence not the same. Of interest to note, however that is the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably.
