Discussion 2

Topic: Identity Formation  Question/Prompt: Identity formation is one of the most important tasks of adolescence. For your thread:

1. Choose one of the four arenas of identity formation (faith, vocation, politics or gender role).

2. Within the arena you have chosen, describe some circumstances from your adolescence that impacted your journey to identity achievement.

3. Demonstrate your understanding of Marcia’s four stages of identity formation discussed in the text (role confusion, foreclosure, moratorium or achievement) and describe how they were or were not evident in your experience.

4. Tell whether your faith hindered or helped your journey to identity achievement.

Replies Prompt: After reading your classmates’ threads, you will select at least two and respond. In your replies, tell whether you think the coping strategy used to identify formation was correctly identified. Explain why you support your classmate’s analysis or suggest which other coping strategy you believe was used and explain why.

Post-First: This course utilizes the Post-First feature in all Discussions. This means you will only be able to read and interact with your classmates’ threads after you have submitted your thread in response to the provided prompt. For additional information on Post-First, click  here  for a tutorial.

Submit your thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of Module 5: Week 5, and submit your replies by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the same module: week.
