Essay #3
prompt: Recently, arguments about how history has been written have been a large part of our social narrative. Many argue that history has been written by the oppressor and the history of those considered deviant has been ignored. So, some argue that statues and street names that celebrate confederate heroes should be taken down and changed, preferably to honor the history of Black and minority communities. What do you think? By tearing down statues and changing street names, are we dishonoring American history or is this a valid approach to correcting America’s history of social and racial injustice? Be specific and thorough in your response. – arguable thesis is needed – two of the sources required in the essay need to be from American Subcultures and Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
