Group Technical Proposal

Objective:

· Apply a scientific approach to answer questions about earth and the environment.

· Synthesize ideas you encounter in multiple readings and presentations.

· Analyze, develop, and explain ideas effectively.

· Use of graphics in a document and presentation.

Format:

Times New Roman, 12pt. font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, approximately 1000 words/person (~3000 words – 12 pages total), cover page, references page, and Gantt chart. Use headings and subheadings to make your essay more readable. Charts, graphs, tables can also be included.

Assignment:

1. Create a fictional company.

2. Assign yourselves a position within the company. Your portion of the report will be reflective of your position and responsibilities (you can each have the same position or different positions). Include your name in the heading or subheading of the document.

3. Write a formal proposal on an environmentally related topic for your client. Your client can be a government body or a multinational corporation with a vested interested in an environmental area.

4. Research the topic and present a convincing, persuasive proposal.

Ideas:

· Recommend the implementation of an environmental process for use in production.

· The purchase of your product for use by your client.

· The design of a product for future sales.

· Describe a unique problem and present a solution.

· Or something else related to solving an environmental problem.

5. Establish the need for your recommendation.

6. Present clear steps for implementing the idea.

7. Conclude with expected results and follow-up steps to measure the results.

Outline:

· Cover Page

· Introduction – Your company. Each of you and your positions. Clear statement of the problem, research performed, solution being presented, and expected outcome.

· Body – Research. Solution. Outcome.

· Conclusion – Expected results and follow-up.

· References (at least 2 per person for six minimum).

· Gantt chart (can be generated by hand or using any software of your choice).

APA Format:

Articles need to appear in the separate References page at the end. Citations from each article should be used in the body of the paper to backup any claims that you make.
