Implementation Model of Change

The change model I will employ will be the Kurt Lewin change management model in which it commonly applies three stages, which are, unfreezes, change and then refreeze (Fink, Markholt, & Copland, 2014). The unfreezing stage will involve preparing yourself and the others concerning the expected changes. It means understanding the real difference and assessing whether it is necessary.

The second stage is the transition phase, which includes the change itself. Transition refers to the inner journey or movement that we take in reaction to the introduced changes. Several measures exist, and it involves allowing people to develop solutions for their own and clear communication of your visions to the employees to avoid them getting lost along the way. The last stage is the freezing or refreezing stage. In this step, the establishment of stability occurs after effecting changes.

Change Theories That Align To My Recommendations

The change theories that aligns to my recommendations includes the trait theory of leadership, which involves the search for the features, and characteristics of an effective leader (Winkler, 2012). There is a significant relationship between the personality traits between the individuals and the practical leadership skills. Moreover, the contingency theory of leadership, which clearly demonstrate that a person can be an effective leader in one field but poor in the other and this, therefore can aid during the delegation process by the leaders. Leaders can focus on areas of their strength.

Moreover, we have the behavioral theory of leadership, which tends to effect either punishment or reward on changing behavior. Leaders should learn to appreciate employees while scolding unwanted employee’s actions but in a gentle manner. Lastly, we have the full range theory of leadership, which covers the essential qualities of a good leader, which includes among others intellectual stimulation, individualized considerations, idealized influence and inspiration motivations (Northouse, 2013).

The above theories directly affect my suggestions for the leadership improvement in practice. First, the change theories ensure that the all the employees e.g. the nurses are aligned towards the expected change in the organization. The contingency theory, on the other hand, provides efficient utilization of one’s strengths in the realization of change. Behavioral theory, on the contrary, provides realization of maximum change by rewarding positive behaviors towards the acceptance of the modification.
