1. Speaker/Rhetor – What do we know about them? Are they trustworthy? Views? Values? Beliefs? What is her purpose? What does she hope to convey about herself?
2. Audience – What do we know about them? Who are they? Are they inclined to be skeptical of the speaker? Do they share values, interests, beliefs with the speaker? Who isn’t included in the audience?
3. Subject – What information does the speaker choose to address? What does she leave out? What does she hope to accomplish?
4. Context – When and where was the message delivered? Why did the speaker need to share the message? What outside forces may affect how the message is received?
